But . . there are records for STRADBALLY . . . which MIGHT have been the nearest recording Church . . .

Thank you for your effort and amazingly quick response. I understand the lack of data is a obstacle. Not to mention a very common name in the U.S. makes it difficult to confirm public records. I have a handed down story and photo copies of the family bible baptism names and dates of the 16 children. I have oodles of information for the kids but not Daniel or his wives. I descend from the 15th child, William. William T McCormick is my mother's maternal grandfather.

In Ancestry.com I did find RC Baptism records in Stradbally of a Denis and Betty Cormac with a son Daniel in 1822 and a few months later a Denis and Betty McCormick with a son Daniel.

I will look at the attachments when I get home from work and can use my laptop instead of my phone.

I had another look . . .on Ancestry . . . for the Birth of a Daniel . . .  (see below) . . found one  . . . slightly  different . . 1821

showing . . . Father . . also Daniel . . . Mother . . Catherine Smith . . . 

SO . . i searched Roots . . . for the wedding of  Daniel // Catherine . . . Ireland . . .1818 +/- 5 yrs . . . NO joy . . . 

Then . . I searched for the Birth of a Catherine      Smyth / Smith . . . c. 1800 . . . +/- 5 yrs . . . on Roots . .  and got 2 hits  . . (see below)       Ballinakill

Hello Kelly - and Eamonn,

Another Éamonn here. I am currently trawling through the Stradbally records in search of Cormick/Cormacks with and without the Mc trying to solve the same jigsaw as yourself Kelly. I think I can be of some help.

I mange an Ancestry account opened for my late mother in law whose great grandmother was a Mary Cormick from Timahoe and definitely related to Daniel. Possibly a sister, or failing that his first cousin. I know this through a DNA matches with a Burke McCormick and the Fentzke branch of his descendants.

There were a few Mary Cormicks born within the time period and having no secondary information which might narrow my focus I turned to other matches trees in the hopes of finding something.

I came across a James McCormack (1836-1912) living in Knocklaide, Fossy Timahoe whose parents are listed as James Cormick and Bridget Cody, which would match with the first record given for Daniel in 1822. One of the Mary Cormicks which would fit for my wife's tree has a father listed as James, frustratingly the mother's name is not listed. However, Cody does feature in DNA matches

James snr is listed in Griffiths valuation (a list of tenants from1850). There are two other Cormicks listed for Fossy, another James and a Mary. The Tithe Applotment Books (a list of tenants from the 1820's) also has three entries for the area - a Denis, a Daniel and a Cornelius. The likelihood is that the three families are related. Interestingly, there are a couple of quarries in the area.

As I mentioned I am currently looking through the Stradbally records on the NLI website. I have previously come across records that did not show, or were mistrancribed on Ancestry. If nothing else it serves as a class of enforced occupational therapy or Lockdown penance - not sure which? So far I've gotten from 1808-1820 without a Cormick in sight. If I come across anything else I will keep you posted.

Finally, a question for you Eamonn - if you have local knowledge. It's theoneI googled which led me to this thread. Have you any idea why there is such a concentration of Munster names in the area? Proximity to the Curragh and the army?
