Migrated to/Born in USA

I am trying to find information on my great, great grandfather James Kane. Here is what I know about him: he was born in Ireland around 1837-1839 and he left Ireland during the potato famine and ultimately landed in Illinois. We don’t have any information on who he came to the United States with and who his parents or siblings were. Based off his wife’s obituarty, they raised a nephew Anothony “Tim” Kane, but we only have limited information on Anthony. My Ancestry DNA shows our Irish roots were established in the Connaught region of Ireland. Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

James married Katherine Kearney in Joliet, IL on February 15, 1863

They had 3 sons in Beloit Wisconsin/Rockton, Illinois - John, William, Frank. James was born in Warren County near Kirkwood, Illinois.

We know they raised Anthony and his birth record shows he was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1872 and we think we found his dad Anthony, but we don’t have any specific details connecting him to James.
