My 2nd great grandfather was Thomas McGlynn born about 1811 in Cleaheen. His father was Michael McGlynn. Thomas married Bridget Campbell who was also from Cleaheen. There marriage took place 1835 Oxhill, Ardcarne, Roscommon.
On my visit to Roscommon in March 2020 researching my ancestor's from Cleaheen I was shown a photograph by a local showing me what a typical 'well-to-do' cottage looked like at the end of the 1800's. He said that it was the family home of a Terence Glynn who was killed in 1921 in Dublin (apparently the holder of the photograph was a relative). I took a photograph of the photo on my mobile and did a little research when I returned back to England. Terence was born in 1895 in Drumshinnagh, Cootehall and was killed fighting for the Republican cause in Dublin when a hand grenade went off before he could throw it.
