Margaret Warwick 1788

Back to List

Margaret Warwick was my 4th great-grandmother. She was married to Samuel McCully who was a farmer of Loughriscouse. Nothing is known of Margaret's birth and death or the date of marriage. However, an entry published in "Gravestone Inscriptions: volume 11: Co Down" gives the following information about her ancestors: David Warwick died 4 Feb 1788 aged 83. His wife Margaret Warwick alias McClean died 21 Jan 1778 aged 63 (presumed to be Margaret's grandparents). Revd Archibald Warwick, grandson of David and Margaret died 15 Oct 1798 (he was a licentiate hanged at Kirkcubbin for his part in the rising) (maybe Margaret's brother). John Warwick, father of Archibald Warwick died 23 Dec 1808 aged 69 (presumed to be Margaret's father, otherwise her uncle). Elizabeth Gordon alias Warwick died 14 Jan 1833 aged 90 (presumed to be Margaret's mother).  David McCully of Loughries died 23 Dec 1872 aged 64 (Margaret and Samuel's oldest known son). His wife Martha McCully died 20 Sep 1901 aged 92 (maiden name Bell). Another tombstone inscription from the same book; David Warwick died 8 Mar 1830 aged 77 (erected by William Huddleston his friend and kinsman) (presumed to be an uncle of Margaret, otherwise could be her father). Martha McCully, wife of Robert Patton of Loughries died 19 Oct 1877 aged 19 (daughter of David McCully and Martha Bell).
