Michael McGinley was born in Irelandon September 29 1835 and he came to this country with his parents in 1846, locating at Philadelphia, PA. He served an apprenticeship in Philadelphia under Abraham Files, an Ebglish painter of broad experience, where he mastered his trade. In 1854 he came west and workedat his trade in Wisconsin and also at Galena and Chicago Illinois, He went to St Louis where he worked painting steamboats, until his removal to Beardstown in 1856 where he married about Sept 27 1857. In June 1871 he moved his family to Pleasant Plains where he since resided and followed his trade including all branches pertaining to practical painting and paper hanging. His youngest son, Henry C McGinley took up the trade of his father, in 1890 and has rendered thirteen years of service along that line, Their business is conducted under the firm name of McGinley & Son, the latter assuming the principal part of the management.
