Thomas Ryan, born circa 1797, married Mary Glavin in Lismore 5th February 1852. They are buried in the old churchyard (now a Protestant church). He leased a slate quarry at Glenriven, Monamon, justoutside Lismore. They had two children: Michael born and baptised 13th September 1855, who we believe emigrated to the USA; and John born and baptised 25 Jan 1854.
Thomas died 10th April 1873 in New Street, Lismore, aged 76. Mary died 18th February 1886, in New Street, aged 65.
John Ryan became a carrier and kept the horse in the back garden. It would walk through the house to get to the garden every day. He was still working the slate quarry in 1884, paying income tax for it. John married Ellen Lyons 26th February 1881 in Lismore. They had eight children: Mary born 1882, Thomas born 1883, Honorah born 1886, John born 1889, Nellie born 1893, Katie born 1890, Michael born 1896,Thomas born 1883 and Anne born c1891.
