John Joseph (JJ) Seymour was the son of John Seymour and Mary (Maria) Cusack. He was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Chapel at 6 St. Mary’s Place, Island Road, Limerick on 31January 1815. His Godparents were Henry and Mary Clancy. The priest was Rev Walsh. He lived in Limerick at 7 Bedford Row and worked as a hatter. His landowner was the Trustees Independent Chapel. He married Margaret Elizabeth Anderson at St. Mary’s on 20 June 1846. Their sponsors were Joseph Moran and Mary Meehan. The priest was Rev W. Brahan. They had two children, Francis and Michael, who were baptized at St Mary’s on 15 July 1847 and 14 October 1849, respectively. The family emigrated from Limerick to New York on Barque Celeste during the summer of 1850. John worked as a hatter in Orange, New Jersey until his death. He is buried at St. John’s Cemetery in Orange.
