William McKane was born on April 13,1856 in Swilly, Donegal. He was baptised on May 18,1856 in Taughboyne Parish Church (St Baithins). He was the son of Joseph McKane /McKean and Mary Doake. Based on bapism records of his siblings, this family lived in Swilly, Porthall, area of Donegal on the banks of the River Foyle.
He married on Feb 2, 1885 in Strabane to Mary Anne White , daughter of John and Elizabeth Dickson, Dixon, Dicson. Shortly after they married they arrived in Boston on March 4, 1885 and settled in Everett, Mass where they had 5 children.
He worked as a laborer for a chemical company .His wife Mary Ann died on March 26, 1925 and he died within a week of her death on April 1, 1925. My grandmother told me from a broken heart and looking at the cause of death on his death record, it appears to be true.
