John was born in Ballinruan around 1858-1859 to Cornelius Loughery (b abt 1824) and Sarah Keogh (b abt 1830). The Loughery clan later lived in Boscobel House near Knockreddan, and for one year John attended the Drumbonniv school. Around 10 years (+/-) after his father died, he and his mother and most of his siblings migrated to New Haven, Connecticut, USA, and in 1887 he married Mary Anne Ringwood from County Laois. The family later moved to Chicago in the early 1890's and he died in Oak Park, Illinois in 1926. He is my dad's maternal grandfather and my great grandfather.
