Only one Henry Hagan from County Down listed in griffiths valuation so possibly this is my great great grandfather who is buried in Valley Falls Rhode Island

Buried in tallest tombstone of cemetary in St Patricks cemetary Valley Falls, RI. FamilySearch shows date of death Mar 6 1884 in Cumberland RI

Since last posting I found Henry's son and my great grandfather William Hagan (1849-1881) getting married in Diocese of Dromore (Tullylish) on 2 May 1868 to my great grandmother Catherine Feenan (aka Feeney) (1852-1910). Per 1870 US Census, William and Catherine and their first child Elizabeth are living on Lonsdale Rd in then Smithfield Rhode Island along with several of William's siblings, most with jobs (even 12 yr old Dan who is working in cotton mill per census). William is considered head of household in census, so conclusively, we can say William and Catherine and many of Henry Hagan's other children came over to Rhode Island from County Down between mid 1868 through 1869 to be so established with residence and jobs by time of census.

Henry Hagan's own immigration date to Rhode Island is shown to be 13 Apr 1871 in his Naturalization filing seven years later.

More information to know about Henry.

Henry's wife is Elizabeth Hagan and from multiple sources her maiden name is given as Hagan as well. They have nine children born in Ireland between 1848 to 1866. The youngest of their children (2 daughters) do not appear in 1870 US census living with older siblings in Rhode Island so likely still with their parents in Ireland. Henry comes over in 1871 and both Henry and Eliza lives nearby to their Hagan offspring until their respective deaths. The large Hagan tombstone in St Patricks cemetery in Valley Falls RI has both Henry and Eliza along with several of their children and spouses listed on the marker.

Family Legend passed onto me:

"Somewhere a Hagan of north of Ireland married a Hagan from Irish Free State." My family understanding was husband Henry Hagan was Roman Catholic and wife Eliza (or Elizabeth) Hagan was Protestant but this has not been substantiated. Their offspring were raised Roman Catholic in RI.
