Griffiths Evaluation has the owner as William Dinneen of Cooscroneen. There was John Dinneen of Brade with a son named Pat. Family still lives there. There is a family photo with Pat Dinneen and his boyhood friend Driscoll from Rabbit island Would anyone know if William and John could be related it seems likely. Kieran casey72361@aol.com
This is the island which was supposed to have been visited by Saint Brigid along with the hermit from Kilcrea Abbey near Cork City. Her well was located on the western end of the island until it moved miracuously to the mainland. In the centre of the island you will notice the ruins of two houses which were occupied by two families - Dinneens who left the island at the start of the 20th century and the O' Driscolls who departed the island for the mainland circa 1930 when their house was burned down.
