My gg grandfather was born in Ireland around 1799, and settled in western New York State in the United States sometime prior to 1824, his first son James was born here at that time. He had a brother Matthew who also came here with his wife Catherine Melviney and their son James who was born in Ireland in 1826. Census records also show another Edward S. Monaghan who was born in 1837, Owen Monaghan born in1816, Nicholas Monaghan born in 1825, and Felix Monaghan born in 1834. I believe these may be cousins based on family lore and they were all were born in Ireland. I have no records of them coming to the U.S. or where they were from in Ireland. I am looking for any help I can get in getting my family back In Ireland.
