Migrated to/Born in Australia
Michael was sentenced to death for highway robbery in 1831, but transported to Australia instead. His 4 subsequent children were not in contact him when he died. His death certificate shows his father as Thomas Walsh, mother Mary Poole. His place of birth is listed in the convict records as Waterford. He was living in Waterford City when arrested at the age of 20. There was an old newspaper clipping in my great grandmother's possessions with no dates that announced the death of a Sir Thomas Walsh. I haven't been able to find any record of a Walsh marrying a Poole, but there was Mary Poole leasing land from a Patrick Walsh in Upper Bridane, Waterford 20 years after Michael's sentencing.
