Alice O'Neill was born in Garvaghullion in a place called Derryhooagh to James O'Neill and Mary O'Kane. Alice immigrated to Montreal, Canada about 1858. There she married Patrick Mullin on 30 June 1863 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Alice and Patrick, a grocer, had 8 children: Mary Ann, Margaret Josephine, Alice Mary, John Francis, Patrick, Michael, Marie Elizabeth and Emma Mary.
