He is noted in the Emigrant's Savings Bank ledger book of New York City in 1860 as having lived in Glenkeen, Tipperary, Ireland. John Gleason was married to Mary Bowers. Not sure if before or after his arrival in USA. His oldest child, John Gleason Jr, was born,according to Census record, in Springfield, Mass. in 1937. The family was living in Manhattan by 1850 Census.
