The story goes that George James Cullen was imprisoned by the British during the uprisings and shipped to Tasmania or Australia. En-route he jumped ship in South America and made his way to the US first in Baltimore then on to Philadephia. When he was shipped off from Ireland he left behind a wife and 3 young children. His wife, Margaret, died leaving behind George M (b. 1875 or 1876), Martin Richard (b. 1880) and Margaret Mary (b.1878).
