Joseph Neill was born 1795 in Dublin. He was living in Ballybay, in 1824 when his daughter Mary Jane Neill was born. He married Margretta McClatchie (b. Scotland) about 1823. They could have been living in Ballybay at that time. His sons John, William and James Joseph were born in unknown parts of Northern Ireland beginning in 1826.
Joseph's parents were William Neill and Mary Nelson.
Joseph and his children migrated to the United States during the famine. Lived until death in Clayton County, Iowa.
