Elizabeth "Lillian" Patterson was born of an Irish family in Hartlepool, Durham England on Feb 9, 1905. Her parents were Alexander (of County Tyrone and Antirm) and Elizabeth Quigley (County Antrim). She had two brothers, William Clarence and Robert, both born in Belfast. In 1900-01 the family moved to Hartlepool, England, I assume for work. Alexander was a Ship's Plater. 1901 Census has them in Hartlepool. Lillian's older sister, Sarah "Sadie" was born in Hartlepool around 1903. At some point the family moved back to Belfast. Family lore tells that my great grandfather worked on the Titanic. The 1911 Census shows them living in Cromac, Antrim, with Elizabeth Quigley's (mother) family.
At some point they moved back to Hartlepool, England, as Lillian earned her degree at the Royal Victoria Infirmary as a Dispenser (pharmacist). Elizabeth Lillian Patterson Hunter was a talented piano player, singer, and loved to be in dramas as well as athletics. Both brothers, Bill and Bert moved to Australia. Sister Sadie immigrated to Canada and married Thomas Dover Mathias, eventually moving to Vancouver, British Columbia. Alexander, Liliian's father died in 1925, so Elizabeth, her mother, immigrated to Canada to join her daughter Sadie. Liliian followed on the ship "Antonia" in September of 1929.
Lillian eventuallly immigrated to Detroit, Michigan to live with extended family and find work. She met James Vincent Hunter (Vince) and married him in Lucas County, Ohio in 1935. They lived in Detroit and had two sons, Gerald Vincent and James Michael. Eventually they moved to St Clair Shores, Michigan. Lillain worked at a local medical clinic for years as a nurse. Her mother Elizabeth moved in with them. Vince died in 1960. Lillian lived independently in her home until passing away in a hospital in Wayne, Michigan in 1983.
