According to Ireland, Catholic Parish Register, 1655-1915, John was born in Ardagh, Aughavas, Leitrim in June 24, 1849. His parents are listed as John Bohan and Ann Conlon. The 1900 US Census has his birth year as 1853. In 1865 he emigrated to the US, taking residence in Greeley, Nebraska. On 15 July 1881, he married Johanna "Anna" Grady. Anna was born in Ireland in 1857 according to her Nebraska marriage certificate. Some discrepancy arises with her birthdate as well because the 1900 US Census has her birth year as 1860 and arrival in the U.S. as 1873.
Together they had 5 children, Patrick Joseph - 1882, Mary Anne - 1884, John Francis -1886, Johanna "Josie" - Sister Mary Consilia - 1888 and finally my grandfather, Thomas Edward - 1894.
