My great-great grandparents, Michael Harty and Catherine Brereton Harty, lived in or near Moneygall through the 1840s and 1850s until they emigrated to the USA (Chicago) 1856-58. They raised a large Catholic family in Ireland and I believe they lived on the north side of Moneygall’s Main Street (R445) from at least 1844-1851.
I understand there was a school building in Moneygall from about 1800. If anyone knows about 19C schooling in Moneygall or can point me to any research sources, I’d appreciate it. Thanks.
The pre-famine parochial schools in this district are mentioned here... https://irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/timeline/cullenw…
