My great-grandmother was Margaret Scanlan born in Ireland 1860's who came to Canada in 1885 according to the 1901 Canadian census for Montreal, Quebec. I did my DNA and found a fourth-sixth cousin in Connecticut USA. Her great-grandmother is Nellie Scanlan born in Ireland 1860's who came to USA in 1890 according to the 1900 US census Avon town, Hartford, Connecticut. Being there is a shared DNA in the family I feel that these two women could be sisters. Nellie's parents are named in her obituary from newspaper.com Hartford Courant 11 February 1943 as David Scanlan and Nora Deed. I need a way to link Margaret to this family. I am unable to find any info on my great-grandmother Margaret. Family tales was that she was from County Cork, but this could be wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated. They were Roman Catholics.
