My 2 x great grand mother is Ann Sullivan she came to Australia on the Tippoo Saib arriving on 1 August 1850. This was the last ship of the Earl Gray "famine girls" ships to arrive.
According to the ship's records she was 17 when she left Ireland giving her an estimated birth year of 1833. However she stated that she was 14 when she married in 1851 making a possible birth year of 1837. The ship's records said she was from Athlone Ireland and her parents were Patrick (deceased) and Bridget (living in Athlone). I found a marriage event for a Patrick Sullivan and Bridget Murphy for 28 November 1837. If these are her parents then the marriage and younger birth year of 1837 seem to match.
This is all we know of Ann before she came to Australia. If anyone can find out about her family history in ireland then it would fill a big hole in my family tree. Gratefull for any assistance.
