Patrick Walsh was born at Lodge, Ardfinnan, and baptised on 10 June 1846. His parents were Patrick Walsh (born abt 1801 - death regn states he was 81 when he died in 1882) and Catherine Morrissey (1813-1876).
Patrick's siblings were Richard (1834), Mary (1836, died before 1848), Johanna (Judith) (1837), Philip (1840), Thomas (1842), Margaret (1844), Mary (1848), John (1849) and Ellen (1851).
Patrick immigrated to Charleston on the West Coast of the Sth Island, NZ, in about 1869 and on 18 June 1877 married Bridget Hennigan (Henigan) of Listowel, Kerry, at Charleston. He mined in the Charleston area for many years before moving north to Westport with Bridget.
Patrick and Bridget had 12 children.
Patrick died as a result of an accident on 17 October 1919 aged 73. He is buried in the Middle Orowaiti Cemetery at Westport with Bridget, who died in 1924.
