Born to farmer Robert McIlwain(e) and Margaret Frazer (Frazier) of Aghincurk, Elizabeth migrated to Australia by the 1860's. She marrried Cornish born Isaac Keam in Burrumbeet, Victoria on 8th December 1863. They settled in Elmhurst where they raised a large brood of 6 sons and 4 daughters. Her brother James also migrated to Australia, settling in Gippsland in Eastern Victoria. Another brother Robert migrated to Queensland in 1875 with his new wife Elizabeth Gillis, he sadly died there of Rheumatic fever 6 months later.
