A native of Drumbullian, Cavan, Maria Noble was born in 1843 to Abner Noble and Letitia Jane Bothwell. At age 22 she sailed by herself to Melbourne Australia to marry her sweetheart William Wood who had arrived from Cavan 9 months earlier. Together they had 7 children. Maria died in 1894
