The first records on paper are the marriage of Chester Clark Sr. in 1869 to 'Wife Quinnegan' in Bangor, Maine and then the 1870 census listing Ann Clark and promptly born son, Charles Clark, in the household of her father in law Salathiel Clark. Salathiel's father Ichabod was born in "New Brunswick" before it was formed in 1777 to a line that cannot be traced. The family says Donegal for the Clarks, but the regional history suggests Mass Bay colonists and ultimately Banham, Norfolk, England.
Ann died 12 Feb 1930 in Bangor, Maine. Family oral history says she is from Louth.
One set of records, supported by DNA relatives and their trees, identify here as the daughter of Peter Cunningham and Mary
Her death certificate contradicts this with a note on the Ancestry record, "Ann (Cunningham) Clark, 101 Highland St., Bangor, Maine, F, white, widowed, 85 years old. 'How long resident?': "Life practically". Housewife, born Ireland, father Gerorge Cunningham, born Ireland, Laborer, mother's maiden name unknown, died 2/23/1930, arterio sclerosis, old age. Dr. W. S. Purinton; undertaker J. F. Kellegher."
