"Samuel TRACY was born [in Ballymurtagh], County Wicklow, Ireland [near Avoca] on 21 Dec 1835 [to William and Ellen [Carr] TRACY]. [He was christened in the Old Castlemacadam Church a week later]. He came to America with his parents and siblings in 1850 when a young man. They settled in the village of New Diggings, Lafayette County, Wisconsin.
Later Samuel Tracy went to California and upon his return to Wisconsin, he purchased a farm near Benton, Wisconsin. In 1858 he married Miss Anna MOORE. Two years later he moved to Harrison, Wisconsin where he lived for 32 years.
Later he moved to Platteville, Wisconsin for about two years having retired from active life as a farmer.
Samuel and Anna TRACY had seven children (five sons and two daughters).
[Mrs. Tracy died in Platteville, Wisconsin on 15 December 1904]. The body of Samuel Tracy was sent to Whig for burial and the service was held at Whig Church to which he belonged a number of years. Rev. Moore conducted the funeral service. "Mr.Tracy left a number of friends and relatives who mourned his loss."
