Place of migration
Migrated to/Born in USA
Joseph Riley was said to be born in Cork but we are not certain if it was County Cork or Cork City. He was a Windsor Chair maker and had a thriving business in New York City and then moved the family and business to Brooklyn. He came to New York ca. 1795. Married Lydia Deborah Baker in NYC August 28, 1799. He hear John Wesley speak in Ireland. He was a lifelong Methodist Episcopal Church member at John Street in NYC and then at Sands Street in Brooklyn. I think he may have been from Cork city because his craft was urban and I've been hoping to find an apprentice record for him as a chair maker in Cork. He had 11 children.
