Luke Barrett lived in the district of Croghan, Co. Roscommon in the years preceding and during the Great Irish Famine.
On 1 March 1824, he married Mary McGarrick aka Mary McGaulin in Croghan. Patrick Collins of Canbo and Michael Barrett of Ballinvilla witnessed the marriage.
This couple has no record of baptising any children.
In Loughlynn in 1835 a Luke Barrett was invited to godparent by Thomas Mahon & Anne Ryan
In 1839, he and Mary Dowd (wife of John Barrett of Ballinvilla & Corlis) were invited to godparent by Patrick Kavanagh and Catherine Sharkett of Finnor townland.
In 1841, he signed the Morpeth Roll in Ballinvilla.
In 1849, he and Brigid McPartland were invited to godparent by Matthew Carthy & Brigid Butler of Killummod townland.
By 1858, he does not appear on record.
