The family moved to Kirkintilloch, Scotland when John was 14.
John married Mary Ross in Kirkintilloch. They had 7 children, pictured below in 1905:
The family emigrated to New Waterford, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1906.
John died in New Waterford in 1933 at age 67.
