William Patrick St John was baptized on May 6, 1880 in Earlshill, Tipperary, Ireland. (His exact birthdate was unknown as of 2020.)
His parents (John St John and Margaret Gleeson) stayed in Ireland when William emigrated to America in 1897 on the SS Magestic.
In 1904 William married. He and his wife, Mary Bridget Byrne, had eleven children. William registered for the draft for WWI, but was determined too old to serve. He was promoted to Foreman at a brass company in the rolling mill of Waterbury -- the first Irish Catholic to be promoted in the company. William was sometimes nicknamed "Will" and "Willi" and "Bill." William Patrick St John died a widower. He was buried in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury, Connecticut, as was his wife and many other members of his extended American family.
