Bridget Devine was born in County Clare, Ireland, "near the mouth of the Shannon River," on December 22, 1833. She emigrated to the USA in 1854 and settled in Davenport, Scott County, Iowa. 

She married Michael Garvey on August 20, 1860, at St. Anthony's church in Davenport, Iowa. Mr. Garvey was born in Kilke, County Clare, Ireland [also near the mouth of the Shannon River].

In August 1860 the family moved to Geneseo, Iowa.  Mr. Garvey worked on the Rock Island Railroad.  Later the family returned to live in Davenport.

Mr. and Mrs. Garvey had several children including:

   Mary (Garvey) Conmee,

   Mrs. ___ (Garvey) Liebel

   Mrs. _____ (Garvey) Brown

   Thomas Garvey

Mr. Michael Garvey died in June of 1912 and his wife died on March 11, 1914 after an illness of five years.  Both are buried in Holy Family Cemetery, Davenport, Scott County, Iowa.
