Winifred P. Monagahn (married Ruvane) 1848
Back to ListWinifred Penelope MONAGAHN was born in Winfield, County Galway on September 12, 1848. At the age of 15, she emigrated to the United States of America with friends, settling in New York City for several years. Eventually, she moved to Freeport, Illinois where she married Matt RUVANE on June 8, 1866. He was a plasterer by trade.
By 1870 the couple was living in Waterloo, Blackhawk, Iowa, USA. At the time of the 1885 Iowa State Census Winifred "Winnie" and Matt Ruvane were listed there with their eight children: William, Mary, Edward, Nellie, John, Winifred, James and Martin.
Winifred (Monagahn) Ruvane died on August 2, 1902, from a heart condition. She was buried in Fairview Cemetery, East Waterloo, Blackhawk, Iowa. Her husband, Matt died in 1926 and is also buried in that cemetery.
