A descendent of the Boyle Frys, Patti B., sent me the attached photo that she found in the parlor of Frybrook House, Boyle, Co Roscommon. I am guessing that the photo dates from c1900. The costume is typical of a boy of that time (and class). In the Irish Census of 1911 there is a Robert Fry, grandson of Robert Roe Fry (1822-1902) and Sarah Curry (1833-1913) of Frybrook House. It would appear that this child would be Robert Henry Roe Fry (1904-1973), son of John Robert Roe Fry (1869-1933) and Mabel White (1880-1904).
Another posibillity would be Kathleen Bain (1895-1928) who shows up on the 1901 Census. She is the daughter of Bessie Fry (1865-1942) and John Bain (1863-1945). I would suspect that the family would be more likely to hang a photo of a grandson than a grand-daughter.
Edmund Fry of Wicklow pointed out that it may not even be a Fry! However he says that my "educated guess is a good one to work with."
According to Bonnie, the current owners would be very interested in finding out the identity of this charming photo.
Other information or discordant opinions would be very welcome.
