  • My wife has Fargey connections in her family. Her great-great grandfather was a James Fargey (c1811 - 1894) who emigrated from Ireland and settled in Hastings County, Ontario, Canada. He was from Carrickafoden, outside the town of Carndonagh, County Donegal. and may have been a son or close relative of the James Fargey (c1790) in the Ireland XO database.

  • We are indeed related. My great great grandfather was the brother of your wife’s great great grandfather. I am so pleased that you replied to my quiery.

  • Very interesting, Barbara. Her great grandfather was Peter Fargey (1841-1929), who married Sarah Ray (1849 - ). Their daughter Annie Mather Fargey (1877 - 1917) is my wife's grandmother, who married Elmer Blake Clark (1878 - 1944) who was the manager of the corundum mine at Craigmont, Raglan, Renfrew, Ontario. Can you confirm that Carrickafoden was the name of the Fargey farm in Donegal? We would like to visit Ireland at some point and see the area where the Fargeys lived before emigrating.
