Born about 1806 in Desertoghill Parish, Derry, Ireland. We suspect they were flax growers (Irish Flax Growers List of 1796). He married Mary Cane/Cain about 1833 in Derry; their first three children Owen, Mary and Ann were born in Derry. Mirgated to New Brunswick, Canada 1839, and settled in the Welsford area, Queens County where they owned property. They had three more children in New Brunswick: Elizabeth, Susan and George. In 1886 they migrated to Humboldt County, California with their children and grandchildren. Both James and Mary died in 1888.
