Hi I am looking to trace ancestors from County Westmeath. Although this request is made under the name Edward Wallace, I am also seeking origin information for other persons, including Anne Heavy, described below. I am directly related to Anne Heavy. I would appreciate any assistance that you can offer. Edward Wallace was born about 1806 and was from Milltown, County Westmeath. He married Mary Heavy in County Westmeath. Mary was from Emper, County Westmeath and was born about 1798. I believe Mary and Edward's marriage occurred on 26 Feb 1829. This was the second marriage for Mary. She was previously married to a man with the surname Heavy. I'm not sure what Mary's maiden name was prior to her first marriage. Mary had two children by her marriage with Mr. Heavy. Esther Heavy was born about 1823. Ann Heavy was born about 1826. Mary and Edward had two children. Martin Wallace was born about 1831. Thomas Wallace was born about 1835. All the above were born in County Westmeath. It appears that Edward Wallace and Mary (Heavy) Wallace emigrated to the New York City area about 1846 and settled in the City of Brooklyn, New York. I don't know when their children arrived but all of the children also settled in Brooklyn around the same time. There is some indication (from New York State census records) that Anne Heavy/Wallace and Esther Heavy/Wallace emigrated a year or two earlier than Edward and Mary. I will include the newspaper death notices for Edward and Mary which note their County Westmeath origins. Tom McGuire
