My great grandmother was an inigma to me. The only information that I had was her U.S.- Illinois death certificate and the 1900 US Federal census which gave little information other than she was born in May 1867, immigrated in 1886, and died on 27 July 1901. People with the family name "White" appeared as witnesses to her marriage to James Dalton from Kilkenny in 1890 and as witnesses for baptism of her children in Chicago church records. Further research into the family name White led me to Wexford. After much research, I found a record of her baptism in Catholic church records in Corramacorra, County Wexford. She was baptized on 28 May 1886 and her parents were shown as Patrick Kearns (1832-1912) and Anne Merriman.(1845-?) from Piercetown Parish. This led to my 3rd-great grandparents, Lawrence Kearns (1798 - ?) and Mary Dugan (abt 1800 - ?).
