tI had some replies to the above, one of which was particularly useful. I have looked at my tree and identified any siblings Michael may have had. Michael moved to Liverpool at some point. Not clear when, but an 1981 entry shows a Michael Kelly in Liverpool and his job as a Farrier ( agrees with the fact that he was a Blacksmith at a later census. His father was a schoolmaster, James Kelly, in Longford. This info is of his marriage certificate in 1896. I believe that Michael was married when he came to Liverpool, but that his wife remained in Ireland and later died. Hence he did not marry his 'second' wife until 1896 after he had already several children with her. I shall list the children and who I believe they were named after according to custom. His first son was James (after his father), his second son was Thomas (after his wife's father), his third son was John (after his older brother?), his fourth son was Joseph after another brother?, his first daughter was Maria ( after his first wife?), his second daughter was Catherine ( after his mother), his fifth son Michael after himself, a sixth son Francis (not sure), his third daughter Annie ( after his wife's mother), his sixth son Edward ( after his wife's older brother) and finally Esther (after his wife). Michael and his family never left Liverpool after he arrived there. He was always a Blacksmith, striker or farrier and he was able to write as he signed his marriage certificate. I believe the traditional name giving by catholics will agree with my conclusions as above. My mother in law mentioned a Patrick Kelly, she visited as a child. However, given the names of the children it is unlikely that a Patrick was one of Michael's siblings. Perhaps a cousin? Or uncle? The family came from Longford. So any other help woukd be appreciated. What about school records? Grave records? Thank you.
