Michael Henry O'Grady was baptised, according to his Victorian Education Dept records, on the 4th March 1842 at Scarriff. His parents were Patrick O'Brien and Bridget Sexton.
In 1850 his sister, Mary was an assisted immigrant to South Australia. His Ed. Dept. records also indicate that around 1855 he was an assistant teacher in Scarriff. In 1856 he witnessed his sister, Anne's marriage to James McNamara - they then went to Victoria, settling in Taradale where his sister, Mary Thompson was living. He came to Victoria on the Negotiator in 1857 as an assisted immigrant, giving his occupation as labourer. With him were his parents, sister Sarah and brother John. They settled in Taradale.
Michael married fellow teacher, Eliza O'Grady from Limerick in 1869 at Castlemaine. They had Mary Philomena (Phyllis), William Henry, Frances Josephine, Ada Aloysia, Sarah, Robert Aloysius and Eva Agnes.
Michael die din Richmond in 1914 but is buried with his father and sister, Sarah in Taradale.
