My great grandfather Terence Francis Murphy emigrated from Ireland to the United States, the first time, in 1893. He was born in Caher Feakle, County Clare, Ireland. He was the first of the Murphy children to leave the family farm and live in the United States. His sister Annie Murphy and Thomas Murphy followed a few years later. Terence and Thomas settled in Simsbury, CT at first and ultimately in Manchester, CT. Their older brother Peter Murphy stayed on the family farm with his parents, Francis and Mary Murphy. As of the 1911 census, Peter and his mother Mary were still on the family farm. Francis Murphy passed away prior to the 1901 Irish census. nI am wondering if there is anyone who knows of the Murphy family in Caher Feakle, County Clare. Terence came back to Ireland after his first wife passed away. He then came back and forth from Ireland to the United States. The family myth is that Terence raised money in the United States and brough it to Ireland for the Irish cause.
