Help me find information on Dennis Lally. He is my Great Great Great Grandfather who came to the US from Ireland.
His Grave Stone in Louisville's St. John's Cemetery says that he was born March 1821, Beloved Husband of Bridget Lally, Born in the Parish of Taum (sic.) County Galway. Died March 7, 1885.
Bridget's maiden name was Higgins.
According to their Marriage Certificate, they married in Pennington, District of Leigh Union, County of Lancaster, England,July 16, 1848. Dennis's father was Bartley Lalley, and Bridget's father was Patrick Higgins.
Their daughter Margaret was born in England on November 15, 1850
The 1851 census has the family living at 109 Bradshawgate, Leigh Lancaster. A "relation" named Edward Lally lived with them. Also a "servant" (12 years old) also named Bridget Higgins lived with them at that address.
A Michael Lally, who also had a father named Bartley, lived a few doors down at 105 Bradshawgate in 1851. (I don't think this is a coincidence).
Dennis's family came to America and had my Great Great Grandfater (Michael Lally) in Virginia. There were several more born to Dennis and Bridget, and they ended up in Louisville Kentucky.
Although I have found a Bartley Lally from the descendants of Michael, I don't think our DNA has matched up. So I might be at a dead end. I'd like to know who Bartley is, where exactly did they come from, and if we can trace back Bartley's parents or connect them to the prominant Tullindaly branch of the family. Any help is appreciated.
