I may have found my greatgreat grandfather but want to share here to see if anyting looks familiar to anyone or if something seens inaccurate.

I have him as born in December of1831, arrived New York in May, 1849 and naturalized through Boston around 1860. Married Catherine Hoar, also from Ireland. They married in Waterville, Maine in 1854. As for Catherine, she was born in Ireland but not sure where. Her possible parents were James Hoar and Mary Lyons.

I did find a Timothy and Catherine(Hoar) O'Connell as married on Feb. 12, 1839 in Innishannon in diocess Cork and Ross. I don't think this couple matches with what I believe is mine but perhaps there is a relationship?

I would like to locate Timothy O'Connell's parentage if anyone has any thoguhts on that. Any advice, help is always appreciated. Maureen Delahanty

  • Hello again Maureen!

Can you clarify if you believe that the father of the 1831 Timothy was also Timothy?  There are many Timothy O'Connell/Connell baptismal records around 1831 but I have not found a December 1831 record. Also, many immigrants adjusted their year of birth in their new country (and sometimes the month).

  • Thanks for replying. No, I can't confirm that father was Timothy also. I'll continue with search and check various dates. He's bound to show up. Maureen
