I am descended from Bridget Conboy (1795-1882). Born in Ireland, she was married to John Greer (1792-1881) in Ireland and had a son John Greer born around 1826. The family was described as coming from Sligo or Connaught. The family moved to Canada and settled in South Sherbrooke Township in Ontario around 1842. John and Bridget (also called Bessey in one census) were reported as unable to read in one census, so likely came from very humble beginnings. The census identifies them as affiliated with the Church of England or the Methodist Church.
