The Blanchflower Story

James Blanchflower was born somewhere in Ireland between 1801 and 1811. Sometime at or before 1828, he was living in Stalybridge in Cheshire England. I say he was born in Ireland because the English 1841 and 1851 census indicated this. His children were all born in either Cheshire or Lancashire counties in England: Mary 1828, Thomas 1831, Ann 1834-42, James 1836, Charles 1840, and Ann 1844.

James married Ann Craven who was also from Ireland somewhere. John Gresham site says there is no combination of Blanchflower and Craven names in Griffiths Valuation, but their marriage was around 1828 or before which would be prior to Griffith, I believe. It also could mean they married in Cheshire England where they had their children.

To try to narrow thing down I have found the majority of Blanchflowers in the 1901 census residing in Belfast, then  1 family in Dublin North, 1 family in Cork, 1 family in Dublin South and 1 family in Clonmel. The dates though are way too late for the birth record I'm looking for. If I search for Blanchfield I find them in Kilkenny followed by a presence in Athy from the mid to late 1800s. Again too late for what I'm looking for.

I'm also looking for the birth record of James' wife Ann Craven (OR Creaven, Cravin, Crevan, Creevan, Gravan, Graven) born somewhere in Ireland around 1806 or 1808. The Gresham site lists the family living in Down, Louth-Monaghan, Offaly-Galway-Tipperary. But there are a lot of other counties listed. Ann Craven Blanchflower died in 1848 in Dukinfield, Lancashire England.

I would appreciate any help in locating James Blanchflower's birth record in Ireland and death record in England. He is a real mystery. I have seen several variations of the name including Blanchfield, Blanchfond, Blanchflower Flower, Blanceflower, Blancheflower, Blanchflour, and Blankflower. The 1858 death record for a James Blanchflower is his grandson's.

I also would love the birth record of Ann Craven and the marriage record of James Blanchflower and Ann Craven.
