Paul McDermott is listed on the Irish Poverty Relief loans for Elphin Roscommon in the 1840s

He emigrated to the U.S. about 1850-1851 with his wife and children following soon thereafter.  

If the birth record I found for 10 Dec 1824 in Elphin is the correct one, his parents were Edward McDermott and Ann Taylor.

Paul seems to be an unusual name - I've only found references to one Paul McDermott in Brooklyn, NY, USA
