Seeking info about the background of my Irish family members who arrived in Brisbane Australia aboard the Erin-Go-Bragh ship. The Erin-Go-Bragh set out from Cobh, Ireland, on February 7 1862 and arrived in Moreton Bay on August 2 1862. The Erin-Go-Bragh was the first mainly Irish free settler ship to come to Queensland and those hardy souls faced many challenges including a leaky ship, 57 deaths and a dangerous journey.
My family amongst the immigrants were Edward Ryan and his wife Jane Hyland and their seven children. I have read that most of the migrants were from Killeigh, near Tullamore and may have been evicted from an estate called "Geasehill/Geashill"
The time they left is slightly after what I have read as being the official end of the Potato Famine period, but I am sure the effects of this continued for many years.
I am wondering is there anyway to find specific information about the family, the background of the eviction from the Geasehill estates.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Subscription site www.rootsireland.ie has a record of baptisms - 1840 - 1860:
There is the address "Cruit" which is in the Civil Parish of Kilclonfert - Poor Law Union of Tullamore.
Children: Baptisms in Daingean: Andrew,1842, William - address Kill - 1853 - Teresa 1856.

Can you confirm that they are your relatives.
In regard to property an Edward Ryan is recorded in the townland of Kilclonfert leasing c46 acres of land - Griffith's Valuations 1854.
Buildings are highly valued.
He is not recorded in the townland of Cruit.
There is an entry for an Edward Ryan of Kilclonfert summoned to the local magistrates court on November 21st 1861 for non-payment of
a grocery bill of £3.10-0. No other record found after this.

I am sure you have most of this stuff covered, I have read alot about the Geashill evictions. this was from the Digby estate and
I have just finished reading about Father Dunne who was the priest who faciliated the leasing of this ship.
I have asked in the Historical Society in Tullamore if there is a way of knowing where families came from and they will get back to me next week
Pat Rafter the Australian Tennis player's ancestors were also on that ship.
Most of the tenants were from the Geashill area, although the Digby estate was very large 1000 acres or more so part of Killeigh would have been involved
The Digby estate papers are on line now from 1850, these are all the people on this estate who were tenants,, so you maybe able to find your ancestors there
