When Robert H. Dixon was born in January 1855 in Leitrim, Ireland, his father, James, was 48 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 30. He married Margaret Nolan in 1875 in New York. They had nine children in 20 years. He died on March 2, 1925, in Brooklyn, New York, at the age of 70, and was buried there.
