Cornelius Keeffe married Johanna Buckly on 4 March 1851 in the parish of Clonmeen, County Cork. Witnesses to the marriage were Patrick Buckly and Thomas Keeffe.
Griffiths Valuation of 1852 for Parish of Clonfert for the Townland of Kanturk, list number 27 is Cornelius O'Keeffe renting a house from William Fitzgerald.
Our oral family history is that my great-grandfather, James O'Keeffe, was born on 16 September 1854 in Cork. His father's name was Cornelius O'Keeffe, and his mother was Norah Buckley. Cornelius's occupation was given as a cab driver. We were told James had a sister Norah who immigrated to USA/Canada. I have never been able to verify this oral family history. So a marriage between Cornelius O'Keeffe and Johanna Buckly in 1851 is a possible match???
James O'Keeffe arrived in Australia before 1885. On 26 October 1885 he married Emily Godier in the small town of Tocumwal, New South Wales. They had 13 children and spent the rest of their days in this town on the Murray River.
