Mary Seawright along with her sister Catherine embarked London on the "Flying Cloud" 21 Jan 1869 arriving Brisbane Queensland Australia 30 April 1869.
The Flying Cloud was due to depart in mid November but was delayed because the ship's Captain was before a Marine Board charged with cruelty by one of his crew. As a result the passengers had to bide their time around the London Docks. As a result of a liaison with a yet unknown person, Mary became pregnant approximately 23rd December 1868 and I presume did not discover she was pregnant till the voyage was underway.
My Grandfather named David Patrick Edwin Stuart was the child. As there are no DNA matches to "Stuart" we believe he was the result of the liaison and Mary wrongly assumed that a (possibly) David Patrick Stuart was the father. (There were a number of Stuart's living near her home town.)
Mary died in the Brisbane Hospital from "Imperfection of heart" 22nd November 1869 as was buried at the Brisbane Cemetery, Paddington in the Church of England Section. David Patrick Stuart was raised by Seawright relatives but not as a Seawright.
